Wales is known as the Land of Song and choral singing is one of the great traditions of this magical land.
The Colorado Welsh Society keeps this tradition alive here in the Rocky Mountains with our own Welsh Choir. We are an SATB choir, singing in both Welsh and English, traditional Welsh folk songs and the great Welsh hymns. Our conductor, Lianna Lansing grew up in Denver and earned her Masters Degree in Voice from the New England Conservatory of Music and performed with the New York City Opera and other opera companies before moving back to Denver. Throughout the year we sing at the Welsh Society's Christmas Tea in December, The St. David's Day Celebration in March and a Chorale-A-Gala with the other four choirs Lianna conducts in May.
In the past we have also sung a Gymanfa Ganu in April a tradition we would like to see again. We have three or four rehearsals before each performance. We are always looking for new singers and there are no try-outs. We only ask that you enjoy singing with a fun group of people. If that's the case come join us and learn about one of the world's great musical traditions and together let's celebrate the spirit of Wales the spirit of song.
